My journey to success was not always smooth. I had tried my hand at various career options and ventures. While they did not work out the way I wanted them to, I gained essential life skills that led me to where I am today. As I’ve always believed, no experience is ever wasted.
After I completed school, I got my first job with McDonald’s while waiting to be called up for National Service. While McDonald’s training strategy was no doubt an excellent training ground for young people, that was not a career I wanted to pursue. The steep climb up from there took much effort.
Often, success also depends on whether you are present in the right place at the right time. My e-commerce start-up ProvisionShop Pte Ltd came about riding on the rise to the dot-com industry in the late 90s. Its crash eventually also thwarted my own dreams for a while. There were other ventures along the way, not all worked out well. But a never say never mindset and a willingness to take unconventional paths and adapt accordingly eventually paved my way to success.
All these ventures did however, build up extremely valuable insights and honed my business acumen. Today, I am excited to share that after a long period of preparatory work, I have embarked on a journey of building up new strategic businesses in the deep technology and innovation, lifestyle, and wellness sectors.
In the coming weeks, I hope to share my personal experiences with you. Dealing with temporary setbacks, harnessing fear to one’s advantage through mindset mastery, adapting to life’s curveballs, creating your own opportunities and building your own support network – all these will eventually lead you to embracing life’s adventures! I do hope there is something you can draw from my sharing as you set about carving your own path to success!
